Community Liaison Worker, WRDTF Print
The rationale for the Community Liaison Post is borne from the Community Development process which is seen as an effective mechanism to develop local initiatives in tackling substance misuse issues

The role of the Community Liaison Worker (CLW) is
·         To assist the community develop its individual responses to substance misuse
·         Forge interagency collaborations and joint initiatives to tackle the local problems
·         Help drive initiatives and co-ordinate developments in line with the National Drugs Strategy and regional policies
·         Identify the local impact of substance misuse and local service needs
·         Assist in drug and alcohol policy development at a local level
·         To signpost relevant services and supports in the area

So, if you or your organisation is interested in
·         Raising awareness of Substance misuse in the community  
·         Developing a community response to substance misuse
·         Looking for information on Drug & Alcohol supports/services/training available
·         Applying for Western Region Drugs Task Force grants available
·         Developing a Drug & Alcohol Policy
