South West Mayo Development Company and Mayo North East LEADER Partnership Company are excited to announce their collaboration in developing County Mayo’s first Social Enterprise Strategy. This strategic plan (2023-2027) aims to propel the growth of the social enterprise sector throughout County Mayo.
The County Mayo Social Enterprise Strategy sets out a roadmap to expand the reach and impact of social enterprises across Mayo. The strategy aims to address social enterprise needs and development within County Mayo. This long-term vision will not only empower existing social enterprises but inspire the emergence of new social enterprises that can make a meaningful difference in providing services and products outside the private and public sectors.
We were delighted that Michael Ring, T.D. was able to officially launch this strategy. In his former Ministerial role, Deputy Ring actively supported the social enterprise sector in Ireland – overseeing the first national strategy, the first national conference and other financial supports for this important sector. Special thanks also goes to Alma Gallagher, (Clár IRD), Jane Crean (Ballina Costume Company) and Ailish Irvine (Irish Social Enterprise Network) who made excellent presentations on the day.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Westport Town Hall Theatre and The Wyatt Hotel for hosting this event, and to the many people who attended the launch.
The County Mayo Social Enterprise Strategy for 2023-2027 represents an exciting chapter in the growth of social enterprises in Mayo. By fostering an environment that encourages entrepreneurship and social impact, we aim to create a more inclusive and prosperous community for all.
